Bent-Circuit Electronic Drum Machines
Here we have a Yamaha DD-5 drum machine with 4 pads. Ive added several
glitch switches, 1/4" output jack with volume control, guitar strap
buttons that also act as pitch changing body contacts and an atari jack.
The Atari jack accepts regular joysticks for more bends and fun control.
This machine now is capable of some very strange beats and sounds when
the bent controls are activated including some backward beats, very cool
The Boss division of Roland manufactured
these terrific Drum pads in the late 80's.
There are actually 3 varieties, Dr.Pad I,
Dr.Pad II, and Dr.Pad III. They are all
similar except the 6 onboard sounds vary
depending on which model you get. One has
a gong, shattering glass, etc. Others have
tympany, hand clap, etc. Ive aDDED tons of
new parameters to the sounds via new bend
switches and one pitch control knob. Now
these are unbelievably unique and diverse
little sound boxes. The bends ive added
introduce echos, ring modulation, endless
repeats, total destruction of the original
sound. These are my favorite Drum Pads!!!!

pads. Ive add-
ed a 5 port
patchbay with
one switchable
socket and 1
bend switch
that causes
different types
of effects
including ring
mods, and
envelope type
changes. This
is a very
smooth beatbox
now that can
really switch
it up and
break it down.
